Snow in Shipton on Cherwell 10th December 2017

I thought I would pop out quickly this morning and take a few pictures of the snow here in Shipton on Cherwell. I was going to be off to the new allotment this morning, but the white stuff has put the dampers on that for this gardener.

It will have to be a morning in front of the fire then with the family. Maybe a Christmas movie?

The Holy Cross Church looked very festive. They are planning on decorating the tree which I donated to them later during their morning service.

You can even see snow beginning to settle on top of the ice on the canal. Should be ready for skating on later today!

It it surprisingly warm in a boat in the snow when the stove is on. We need to get out of the village at some point today, but for now its cuddles on the sofa in front of the fire with a nice hot brew.

This is the road out of the village. Its not a major road, so probably won’t be gritted. Should be an interesting challenge to get out later today.

You can see from the tracks that someone has braved conditions this morning to either make it into or out of the village. I am hoping that once the service starts at the church and the parishioners arrive in their cars that it will make driving on the road a little more achievable for us. Cheeky I know, but hey-ho-ho-ho!

Wherever you are today in the snow, I hope you have a chance to enjoy it! And for those who have kids, remember that they spell LOVE T-I-M-E, so put down that tech and go have a snowball fight!

Thank you Richard not only for posting the lovely pic of the church, it was me inside desperately trying to get things ready for our non-service (I’m the churchwarden) , but also for the magnificent & spiffing tree. Very grateful to you and to your family for decorating it. I wish that I had taken a picture of that.
Are you able to source/sell smaller trees? We are looking for one at the moment and they are a horrible price, though necessarily so I guess.
It will be disorganised chaos next Sunday for the Crib ‘service’ if you and the sprogs are interested. Not at all preachy just organised chaos.
