Gardening organically and with nature in mind means looking after the soil as a valuable resource. Caring for and supporting healthy soil means healthier and happy plants without synthetic fertilisers.
A garden is something to have a connection with. Whether it gives you hearty food, a place to sit and just be, or a place to play or socialise, it is an incredibly important place. I love helping people find this connection.
We all share our gardens with some pretty amazing neighbours. Refusing to use pesticides allows these to flourish and helps create a natural balance in your space. This is great for the local ecology.
Hello, my name is Richard and I am a local gardener in Kidlington, Thrupp, Begbroke, Yarnton, Shipton on Cherwell, and North Oxford
Thanks for popping by my website. I really hope you enjoy looking at some of my videos and posts as well as finding out what services I offer locally.
For more on why I cycle have a look at the Cycling Gardener page.
Throughout the year I offer many local garden services in and around Kidlington from lawn mowing, hedge cutting and weeding to hedgelaying and creating living willow fences – or fedges.
I work with customers to increase wildlife habitats in their gardens. I also encourage everyone I work with to compost at home so that they can have a free nutritious resource to feed their soil.
Many years ago when I was training to be a gardener, I did my work experience with a local gardener over in Bicester. It is my home town and the place where I grew up as a lad, helping my dad in his local plant nursery and attending the local schools, St Edburgs and Bicester Community College. It is great to be back working so close to where I grew up.
I live on our canal boat with my little family on the Oxford Canal. We love being close to nature and living as sustainably as possible.
My wife helps me with the day to day running of the business, answering calls, emails and posting news and updates to the website, YouTube and Twitter. I have a young son and daughter who we home educate.
As a family, we love spending time in nature, on the canals with our boat, Bluebell. We also love camping at various eco campsites and taking long walks around our beautiful Oxfordshire countryside.

"Richard brightens our day, not just by doing a fantastic job manicuring the garden to a degree of perfectionism, but also because he is an extremely nice chap. My husband says that he is a joy to watch as he is a man who 'loves what he does'. He is extremely knowledgeable and generous with his advice. I couldn't recommend him more highly."
"We asked Richard to help with our small garden as my husband is no longer able to maintain it. RIchard can provide a service to suit your needs and pocket. He is very knowledgeable about all aspects of gardening and does the work efficiently and in a friendly manner. He's the first professional gardener we've ever had and we would not hesitate to recommend him."
"We asked for Richard's help to create a natural screen on the border of our garden - a long stretch that had been natural hedgerow. He proposed and then planted up a fantastic willow fedge. The end result is amazing - Richard's technical knowledge, attention to detail and professionalism have all contributed to a wonderful new screen, and a stunning feature that we just would not have considered on our own."
